Donna Mae Wick, age 74, of Saint Peter, passed away on Thursday, July 23rd, 2020 surrounded by family after a 6-year-battle with cancer.
Celebration of Life will be held at 11am, Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 511 S. 5th Street, St. Peter. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Donna was born in Mankato, Minnesota to Melvin and Lila Gatzke on June 20th, 1946. Donna grew up in various places across southern Minnesota with her siblings, Judy Gondreau, William Gatzke, John Gatzke, Mary Coffey, and Linda Eickhoff.
Donna met the love of her life, Alan (Butch) Wick, in 1961 and they were married on October 13th, 1962. They settled outside of St. Peter near Traverse, where they raised their 4 children. Donna earned her GED in 1984, graduating with her son. She worked several jobs and volunteered at the St. Peter Food Shelf, Trinity Lutheran Church, and various nursing homes.
Donna loved being surrounded by family at the annual Mother's Day picnic, camping, holidays, birthdays, and Father's Day. Donna enjoyed crocheting, making soup, and chatting with anyone she met. If Donna knew your name, you were someone she knew. While receiving treatment at the cancer center in Mankato, she always made a point to stop and talk to everybody. Donna cared for everyone, and her home was always open to anyone who needed a place to stay, whether it was family or someone stuck in a snowstorm.
Donna's family will remember her as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who was kind, generous, full of life, positive even in the face of adversity, and the toughest 4-foot 11-inch person in the world.
Donna is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, children, Bonnie (Tom) Kahlow, Cheryl (Kirk) Moret, Ron (Patty) Wick, and Sandy (Mark Lindorff) Wick; niece/daughter, Jenna Bastin; grandchildren, Ryan and Sean Kahlow, Kyle (Emily), Katie, and Adam Moret, Brandon, Ben, and Becky Wick, Brianna (Will) Robeck-Schwartz, and Sierra (Cameron Wilking) Robeck; her siblings, and several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and her faithful dog and constant companion, Willis.
