Doris Evelyn Kimble

Doris Evelyn Kimble, age 90, of North Mankato passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Mankato, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Mankato. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Doris was born on February 19, 1932 to William Daberkow and Minnie Gertrude (Kahn) in Lakefield, MN. She graduated from Lakefield High School in 1950. Doris was confirmed and baptized at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in rural Lakefield.  She was united in marriage to Marvin Kimble on September 26, 1952 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

Doris and her husband moved to the Mankato area, and she worked at Mankato CORP for 25 years. Doris also owned D & M Liquor Store and worked at Designing Women in the mall.

She was a former member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lakefield and a current member of Our Savior’s Lutheran church in Mankato, where she served on the altar guild and other committees. Doris enjoyed family vacations, attending Red Hat events and card club, as well as cooking on holidays at home and at church.

Doris is survived by her daughter and her husband, Wanda and Roger Schwanke of Mankato, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Kimble, and her parents, William and Minnie Daberkow.
