Dorothy Louise (Brown) Anderson has gone to her heavenly home. She left us Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 5, 2019 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Mankato, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the 11:00 a.m. service on Monday at the church. Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Mankato. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy was born on January 20th, 1926 to Florence (Southworth) and George Brown in St. Peter, Minnesota.
She was baptized, attended school, and was courted in St. Peter, Minnesota. Dad would take the train from Mankato to St. Peter to date mom. She was married to her “one and only”, Norbert G. Anderson on October 18th, 1944, while dad was home on leave from serving in WWII. She worked in a defense plant in Washington for a time while dad was in the Army/Air Force. They were married for 59 years.
Dorothy worked at several jobs during her lifetime. Some of them were, a dry cleaning shop, Shari Candy, Madsen’s Grocery, and school District #77. She also volunteered at The Mankato Thrift Store and Minnesota State University Book Store. She was a member of The Red Hat Club, going on many mini adventures.
Dorothy enjoyed vacations, trips to the casino, dining out, playing cards, shopping, and anything to do with her family. Her family was most important to her. She was there to help them, attend their many activities, or just be with them no matter the occasion. She has left us with many wonderful memories that we will always cherish.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Nancy and Larry Hansen, Steven Anderson, and Barbara and James Lindsay. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Also sister Joycelle and Clark (Robert) Vogel and sister-in-law Lois Reynolds. And many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was proceeded in death by her loving husband Norbert G. Anderson. Also her parents, sister Betty(Curly) Campbell and brother Raymond L. (Margaret) Brown, sisters-in-law Phyllis (Lavern) Kopischke, Betty Ann (Darrell) Moon, brothers-in-law Marvin(Kathleen) Anderson, Tom Reynolds and special aunt and uncle Viola and John Norman.
Memorials can be made to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
