Duane William Bergemann age 80 of New Ulm and formerly of rural Garden City died Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at the Madelia Community Hospital.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday June 23, 2020 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Grant Bode officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m., Monday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue from 12:00 p.m. (noon) until the 2:00 p.m., service at the Church on Tuesday. With the current Covid-19 restrictions we ask that everyone attending please practice social distancing. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to New Ulm Hospice, Madelia Hospital, Minnesota Music Hall of Fame of New Ulm.
Duane Bergemann was born March 30, 1940 to William and Luella (Radloff) Bergemann in Mankato, Minnesota. He graduated from Garden City High School. Duane was married to Carol Larson on September 30, 1961. Carol died on September 23, 1981. He married Karen Frank on May 8, 1992. Duane farmed in the Garden City area and was a crop duster Ag pilot which he took great pride in. Duane and Karen also formed Baroda Auction in later years. He was a very active member of Redeemer Lutheran in New Ulm and every church he was a member of in the past. He was also was a proud member of the New Ulm Lions Club. Duane loved music and enjoyed playing the accordion.
Duane is survived by his wife Karen of New Ulm; six children, Ron (Ann) Bergemann of Good Thunder, Doug (Joann) Bergemann of Owatonna, Mike (Jamie) Frank of Windom, Daren (Jenny) Frank of Good Thunder, Curt (Jana) Frank of River Falls, WI, Kris (John Hubbard) Ratcliff of Wells; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandson; brother, Harlan (Pat) Bergemann of Garden City; sister, Lou Jean (Thaddeus Hultengren) Kaul of Mankato; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Carol.
