Earl M. Reid, age 88, of Lake Crystal, died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Crystal Seasons after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
A private family Memorial Service will be held. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Earl was born on December 20, 1932 in New Castle, Nebraska to Melvin and Winnifred (Bird) Reid. He graduated from Garden City High School. On February 10, 1953, Earl was united in marriage to Shirley Spence at Grace United Methodist Church. Together, Earl and Shirley farmed for many years near Vernon Center. Earl’s greatest pride and joys in his life were Shirley and his large family. He had many passions in life which included farming, woodworking, hunting and fishing for muskies up north. Earl and Shirley enjoyed taking their motorhome for over 30 years every winter to Arizona and Mexico. Earl and Shirley also loved being Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus for many years at the Vernon Center Christmas Celebrations that were held. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Earl is survived by his five children, Randy (Bonnie) Reid, Roxanne (Peter) Skalicky, Wanda Reid (Jim Weiler), Bruce (Brenda) Reid, and Brian (Linda) Reid; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; two sisters; one brother; and his parents.
