Edward J. Abdo

Edward “Ed” J. Abdo, age 78 of Mankato, MN passed away on August 30, 2024, at the Mapleton Community Home in Mapleton, MN.

A gathering to celebrate the life of Edward will be held from 3-7 pm on October 4, 2024, at Hooligan’s in Mankato for all friends and family. A Private family interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Mankato, MN.

Edward was born July 19, 1946, to Mose and Mary (Anton) Abdo in Mankato, MN. The oldest of four children, he was raised, educated, and made his home in Mankato. He was employed by the State of Minnesota Highway Department there, for many years up until his retirement. 

Ed enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. He spent one of his last adventures enjoying a day of fishing with staff from the Mapleton Community Home where he spent his last years. Ed was known for his teasing, and he enjoyed getting teased back. He had a playful sense of humor and wasn’t afraid to show his kind and caring heart to those around him. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all. 

Ed is survived by his brother, David (Cindy) Abdo of Morrocco, IN; sister, Diane (Curtis) Wiedeman of Elgin, IL; nieces, Leah Hopponen (JT Phipps and their children, Leighton & Steffen Phipps) of New Town, ND; Nicci Abdo (her children Brayden & Bailey Curley) of Streator, IL; Traci (Kent) Hays (children Macenzie & Lindsey) of Mankato, MN; nephew, Jimmy (Elitta) Sorenson, Kingsport, TN and extended family. 

Ed was proceeded in death by his parents, and sister Francis.
