Edward Evan Wigley, age 89, of Mankato and formerly Lake Crystal passed way Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato.

Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Minneopa Cemetery. Northview – North Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent to Northview – North Mankato Mortuary: 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato, MN 56003.  In lieu of flowers, memorials be given to First Presbyterian Church-Lake Crystal, Alzheimer’s Association, or Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Ed was born November 9, 1931 to Evan and Mary (Ellis) Wigley in Mankato, Minnesota. He attended country school in Judson and later graduated from Mankato High School. Ed was united in marriage to Gertrude “Gert” Williams on November 1, 1958 at Cambria Presbyterian Church.

Ed and Gert farmed in the Judson area for most of their lives before moving to Mankato. He was a past member of Carmel Presbyterian Church, rural Lake Crystal.  Ed was a current member of First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal. He served his country in the United States Army from 1952-54. Ed enjoyed golf, bowling and taking his restored 1966 Mustang convertible to roll-ins and car shows in the area. 

Ed is survived by his daughter Lori Wigley of North Mankato; granddaughter, Amanda (Chad) Hewitt of North Mankato; two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Colsen Hewitt; sister-in-law Myrna Manti of Owatonna; brother-in-law Herb Jones of Lake Crystal; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents, wife, Gertrude in 2016; son, Ronald in 1975; brother, Dick (Fran) Wigley; sister Miriam Jones.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Oak Terrace, Oaklawn and Mayo Hospice to the excellent care and love received from them.
