Eleanor “Ellie” Jacobson Vandermoon, 97 years old, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Oaklawn Care Center. She was the daughter of Paul and Hannah (Holm) Jacobson.
Eleanor graduated from St. James High School in 1941. She married Curtis Vandermoon in 1946. They moved to Mankato in 1948. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at First Lutheran Church, St. James. She worked at Blue Blazer Dining Room, Saulpaugh Hotel, Cubs Restaurant, and Redwood Motel in Mankato until she retired. Her hobbies were shopping with her twin sister and reading. She was an avid Minnesota Twins and NASCAR fan. Eleanor will be remembered as a compassionate, caring, and giving person and friend. Her greatest joy was being Mom to her son, Troy.
Eleanor is survived by her son, Troy, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; twin sister, Elaine Holland; sister, Elsie Mae Lueck; brothers-in-law, Gordie Holland and Al Lueck; nephew and godson, Steven Lueck; and her granddog, Taffy.
Ellie preferred memorials be directed to the Humane Society.
