Florence B. Childs

Florence B. Childs, age 98, of North Mankato, formerly of Elmore, died on Monday, August 31, 2020 at Oak Terrace Assisted Living.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Mankato Mortuary.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in Sherburn, MN at a later date.   

Florence was born on October 23, 1921 in Buffalo Center, IA.  She graduated from Sherburn High School.  Florence raised four daughters on a farm near Elmore.  She worked for Sears for many years in Blue Earth.  Florence was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Elmore.  She was a member of the church choir and ladies aid.  Florence enjoyed reading, singing, crossword puzzles, flower gardening, and playing dominos.  Florence loved her family, family always came first. 

Florence is survived by her four daughters, Melanie Stenzel of Thief River Falls, Denise Wolf of Elmore, Marcia (Arnie) Swanson of Elmore, and Pam Childs of North Mankato; grandchildren, Jennifer (Steve) Kriel of Thief River Falls, Caleb (Ayrica) Franke of Frost, Chelsey (Andy) Larsen of Fairmont, Kelly J. Miller of North Mankato, Analicia Swanson of Elmore and Bailee Swanson of Elmore; great-grandchildren, Rylyn and Rhys Larsen and Sadie Franke; two sisters, Elsie Johnson of WA and Doreen Adams of Austin.  She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Scott Stenzel; and brothers and sisters.
