Florence “Flo” Louise (Frederick) Lohmann, age 93, of North Mankato passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Birchwood Cottages, North Mankato.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m., on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Crossview Covenant Church, North Mankato with visitation one hour prior at the church as well. Burial will be in Woodville Cemetery, Waseca. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Birchwood Cottages, North Mankato. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Florence was born on April 17, 1930, on a farm near Emmetsberg, Iowa to Walter and Minnie (Vandervelde) Frederick. Flo graduated high school in Emmetsberg, Iowa. She married Kenneth Pettiecord in October of 1950 and they later divorced. To this union three daughters were born. Flo married Marvin Lohmann in 1977.
Flo was artistic throughout her life. She enjoyed painting subjects from nature. She also enjoyed creating porcelain dolls, embroidering dishtowels, and sewing many projects.
Flo first worked for the Happy Chef Restaurant in North Mankato, running the buffet room. She and Marvin then purchased their own restaurant, the Busy Bee Café in Waseca. Flo and Marvin enjoyed traveling and led several tour groups to Hawaii.
Flo is survived by her children, Becky (John “Jack”) Herrley, Loni (Jim) Anker, Lorrie (Chuck) Haala; 6 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Flo was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; parents, Walter and Minnie; sisters, Dorothy Zech, Beverlee Homer, and son-in-law, John “Jack” Herrley.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Birchwood Cottages, and St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care they provided.
