Florence G. Sassenberg

Florence Sassenberg, 90, beloved sister and aunt, died on March 19, 2025 at Pathstone Landing in Mankato.

Memorial service will be 11:00am April 10, 2025 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Memorials preferred to Bethlehem Lutheran Church or donor's choice.

Florence was born November 28 1934to William and Laura (Sinell) Sassenberg on the family farm in Kelso Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church outside Gaylord and attended country school, which she loved. At the age of 14, the family moved to Mankato, where she graduated from Mankato High School in 1952. She was employed by the Mankato Creamery, Mankato Free Press, and BENCO Electric from which she retired after 39 years in 1999.

Florence was a faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and active in their Care Ministry and other programs for many years. She was also a member of the local chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha service sorority, Terrace View's Women's Golf League and was a long-time volunteer at the Echo Food Shelf. In 2003, she received the "Good People Jefferson Award". She enjoyed traveling, spending time in Northern Minnesota with friends, and being with her family.

Florence is survived by her sister, Eunice Sassenberg of Mankato, two nephews, Steve (Cassandra) Sassenberg and their children, Justin, Ben and Lucy of St.Peter, and Daniel Sassenberg of St. Paul; and a niece, Ellen Sassenberg (Vince Wagner) and their children, Madeleine, Martin and Devin Wagner of Rochester.

She was proceded in death by her parents, and brother, Karl Sassenberg.
