Francis died, as he lived, peacefully just one month shy of his 101st birthday. He was a life long resident of Lower North Mankato.
Francis was known for his incredible patience, wisdom and kindness as well as high ideals, humility and sense of humor.
Francis was preceded in death by his wife Norma (Alesch) Neubert, parents Joseph and Elizabeth (Plantholt) Neubert, siblings Mary Neubert, Jerome “Dutch” (Helen) Neubert, Bernard “Bennie” Neubert, Robert “Ozzie” (Lois) Neubert, Roman Neubert, Joseph (Juanita Fay) Neubert, Ann (John) Hiniker, half siblings Raymond Neubert, Walter (Eleanor) Neubert, Phillip (Brother Raymond) Neubert, Margaret (Frank) Cornelius, Genevieve Neubert, Peter (Dorothy) Neubert, Aloysius (Maria) Neubert. The last of his brothers and sisters, Francis was the final post in a long fence.
Francis is survived by his daughter Ann (John) Timmerman, grandchildren Molly Ann Timmerman (Mary Beth D’Alonzo), John Francis (Molly Erin) Timmerman, Joseph Peter (Calista Jorene) Timmerman, great grandchildren Lily Donnette Timmerman, Erin Ann Timmerman, Scott Francis Timmerman, and Hazel Mae Timmerman. Along with sisters-in-law Lois Neubert and Helen Neubert and numerous nieces and nephews.
Francis graduated from Mankato High School in 1937.
He was a proud veteran of World War ll, serving as Electrician’s Mate First Class, United States Navy aboard LSTs 394 and 906. After finishing his service to his country, he returned to Mankato and worked as an electrician for Thomas Electric the rest of his career.
Francis enjoyed traveling with his wife Norma. They traveled throughout Europe and Canada and to all fifty states. He also liked to garden, WW ll documentaries, the T.V. series ‘Gunsmoke’, Friday breakfasts with his friends and was always fascinated with how things worked.
Francis’s family would like to thank all the relatives and friends who made it possible for Francis to live independently, in his own home almost to his 100th birthday. Aside from an occasional drive around the block in his 99th year he did very well on his own. They also appreciate all the care he received in his final days from Mayo Clinic Hospice and Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center, Mankato.
To ensure the health and safety of those who wish to remember Francis, a private internment took place on November 28th at Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. A celebration of his life is planned for a later date when it will be safe to do so.
Francis’s family requests memorials be sent to a local food shelf or organization assisting the homeless.
