Gaylen Dean Ferley, age 77, of Mankato, died Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Mayo Clinic, Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN, after a brief bout with cancer.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to BENCHS or VINE. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. www.mankatomortuary.com

Gaylen was born March 14, 1943 to Gaylord and Evelyn (Sabin) Ferley in Northwood, Iowa. He graduated from Elmore High School in 1961. Gaylen was united in marriage to Margo K. Smith on September 14, 1963 at the Methodist church in Elmore. Gaylen was employed for 35 years with Honeymead Products Company, two years as a buyer at the Chicago Board of Trade and then in Mankato as a salesman before retiring in 1998. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mankato. Gaylen enjoyed the Y and spending time with friends there. He loved working in his yard, washing his truck, woodworking, and watching collector shows. He deeply loved his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren.

Gaylen is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margo; daughter, Darci (Michael) Woll of Worthington; son, Derek Ferley of Sioux Falls, SD; two grandchildren, Jacob Woll and Madison Woll; sister, Myrna Sorenson of Kiester; twin brothers, Dallas (Pam) Ferley of Eugene, OR and Dennis Ferley of Mankato; and many extended family.

Gaylen was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Wallace Sorenson.
