Genevieve F. Lynch, age 95, of Mankato and formerly of rural St. Clair, died Monday, March 9, 2020 at Primrose Independent Living.
Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Clair, MN. Visitation will be from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., Saturday at the church. Interment will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Genevieve was born March 24, 1924 to Harry and Lucille (Hodapp) Phillips in Blue Earth County. She graduated from St. Clair High School in 1942 and then attended Mankato Teachers College for one year. Genevieve was united in marriage to Bernard F. Lynch, Sr. on February 16, 1943 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Clair. Genevieve’s mother passed when she was a teenager, so Genevieve took over the household chores of cooking, cleaning, taking care of the family, and feeding the threshing crews. After her marriage, Genevieve was a hard working farmwife and mother. She worked alongside Bernard on their crop and hog farm and enjoyed attending to her chickens, vegetable, and flower gardens. She loved to crochet and made many afghans and matching pillow cases for herself and her three daughter-in-law’s, and also crocheted numerous beaded and fancy doilies. Bingo was another love in her life.
Genevieve was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the ladies aide. She was also a member of the St. Clair American Legion Post 475 Auxiliary and various local card and birthday clubs.
Genevieve is survived by her family; daughter-in-law, Karen (Tacheny) Lynch of St. Clair; two sons and their spouses, Robert and Sandra (Burt) Lynch of Eagan, Ray and Shari (Hodapp) Lynch of Eagle Lake; grandchildren, Brian and Linda Lynch, Julie and Matt Klages, Kim Lynch and Jason Helling; great-grandchildren, Nicole and Matt Hiller, Marcus Lynch and fiancé, Nikita Sindt, Danielle Lynch, Jenna Klages and fiancé, Damon Simser, Kylie Klages, and Jakob Helling; numerous nieces and nephews.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard Sr., in 2005; son, Bernard Jr., in 2013; seven brothers, Eugene, Henry, Cletus, Harold, Lester, Nicholas, and Joseph; sister, Adeline Miller.
Genevieve’s family would like to extend a special Thank You to MCHS-Mankato Hospice and the staff and her many friends at Primrose for all the love and care they have given to her.
