Genevieve (Genny) Mae Johnson, age 89, of Mankato died Sunday September 8, 2019, surrounded by her family at Bridgewater at Janesville.

 

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato. Burial will be at Greenhill Cemetery in St. Peter, MN. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m., Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary and continue one hour before the service at the church on Thursday. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.

 

Genevieve Mae Johnson was born November 26, 1929, to John and Elta (Clark) Eccles in Worthington, MN. Genny was united in marriage to Richard Johnson on September 12, 1950, at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato. She worked as an Activity Director for many years at Oaklawn Health Care Center. Genny was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church and was active in Circle and the Quilting Club. She was also a member of TOPS. Genny enjoyed crafts, knitting, crocheting canning, gardening and camping.

 

Genny survived by her four children, Luther (special friend, Laura Kiecker) Johnson of Mankato, Russell Johnson of New Richland, Mavis (Johnson) Gieser and Greg George of Janesville, Randall (Michelle) Johnson of Cleveland; 12 grandchildren, Shane, Nikki, Tara, Eric, Beth, Lowell, Brianna, Katie, Kory, Shanon, Chelsey, and Jamie; 27 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; three great-great-great-grandchildren; six siblings, Robert Eccles, Rosy (Bill) Hruby, Judy (Larry) Griffith, Cliff Eccles, Sylvia Compton, Barb Raiber; brother-in-law, Neil Stuber; many nieces, and nephews.

 

Preceded in death by her parents; infant baby boy Johnson; husband, Richard in 2004; brother, John; two sisters, Juanita and Etta Mae; and great-grandchildren, Alliah and Cayden.
