George R. "Ron" Motto

North Mankato, MN

George “Ron” Ronald Motto, 83, of North Mankato passed away on March 5, 2025. Ron was born on April 8, 1941 to George and Marjorie (Higgins) Motto in Jamestown, New York.

A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00pm, Sunday, March 16, 2025 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary (2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato, MN). Visitation will be held one hour prior. A luncheon will be held in Ron’s honor to follow services at Northview- North Mankato Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to go to the family.

In 1960, Ron married Roberta Akin, they had 3 children and divorced in 1992. During this time, he worked in sales for Archway and Old Dutch and moved to the Mankato area in 1968. He worked for Doston for 30+ years and this is where he retired from. He met Karen in 1997, they were married February 10 2003.

Ron was always seen with a smile on his face and a toothpick in his mouth. Ron loved to travel, especially with those he held close. Ron and Karen would take many trips on the motorcycle and would make sure to hit every casino along the way. He was a member of the Corvette Club, Eagles Club, Goldwing Club and the AMA. Ron was also, a lifetime member of the Kato Cycle Club

His other hobbies included playing cards, especially Pfeffer tournaments, watching NASCAR, and cheering on the Vikings. SKOL!

Ron is survived by his wife, Karen Motto; children, George Motto (Barb Lyons), Wendy (Mike) Wachtel, and Jessica Hughes (Daniel Jensen); grandchildren, Melissa (Levi) Allen, Michelle Reynolds, Jen Barr, Brittany (Matt) Unzeitig, Madison (Sam) Akemann; Tait Akemann, Ellie Hughes, and Greyson Hughes; and 9 great -grandchildren.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, George and Marjorie (Higgins) Motto; brother, James Motto; daughter, Sandra Motto; and grandson, Matt Barr.
