Georgia Hottinger Fasnacht

October 21, 1937 — January 25, 2025

Mankato, MN

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Georgia Rose Hottinger Fasnacht age 87, a cherished mother and grandmother who peacefully left this world on January 25th, 2025 following a short illness. Georgia’s life was defined by devotion, hard work, and an unyielding love for her family.

Georgia lived a life full of faith and resilience. She was born in Mankato, MN to Louis and Anne Schimek and raised with two brothers, Joseph and John “Jack”, and sister Lois on a family farm near Easton, MN. After graduating from Good Counsel Academy in 1955, she began her career at City Investment Mankato Loan Company, where she worked until 1960. In 1958, she married William E. Hottinger Jr. and together had 9 children. They later divorced. She devoted 15 years to being a homemaker, raising her children, and creating a home filled with warmth and love. She later served as a waitress at the Moose Lodge in Mankato and went on to work as a bookkeeper at John Deere Mankato Implement, retiring in 2002.

Georgia's life was enriched by the countless memories shared with her children: William Hottinger III (Heidi), Charles Hottinger (Katy), Julie Hottinger, Daniel Hottinger (Joyce), Kenneth Hottinger, Jennifer Schmidt (Matt), and Rosemary Koenigs (Joel). Her love extended to her 23 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought joy and pride into her life.

Georgia was preceded in death by her first husband William Hottinger Jr., her second husband John McCabe, her third husband Joseph Fasnacht, sons Michael Raymond and Jerome Joseph, and brother Joseph Schimek. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life.

Her legacy is one of love, strength, and an unwavering commitment to family. Georgia's warmth, and kindness touched everyone she met, and her absence leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
