Gerald "Jerry" James Salfer, 77 of Mankato, passed away Friday, March 8, 2024 at Pathstone Living, Mankato.
Memorial will be 3:00pm Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary followed by military honors. Visitation begins at 2:00pm.
Gerald "Jerry" was born December 26, 1946 in Mankato to James and Eleanor Salfer. He graduated from Mankato High School and enlisted in the US Army. After being honorably discharged, he worked as a heavy equipment operator; where he later retired from Southern Minnesota Construction (SMC). Jerry was also a member of the Local 49ers. Jerry was united in marriage to Elizabeth (Ann) on November 22nd, 1996. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering, and woodworking. Most importantly, he enjoyed time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Left to remember Jerry are his children: Rick (Linda) Verkinderen, Laura (Rob) Willette, Sharon (Leroy) McClelland, and Karen Holcomb; grandchildren: Mariah (Mitch), Rachel (David), Ashley (Peyton), Megan (Joe), Michael, Samantha, Christopher, Leroy, and Lucy; 6 great grandchildren; sister Jane Cyphers; sister-in law Myla Salfer; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann; brothers: Richard, and Thomas; and brother-in law: Glen
