Geraldine "Gere" C. Larvick

Geraldine Claire (Daby) Larvick, age 90, of Lake Crystal died, Friday, October 4, 2019, from complications of Alzheimer’s, at The Beacon in Lake Crystal, with her family by her side.

A Celebration of Gere’s Life will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 13, 2019, at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato. Visitation will be from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., Sunday. Interment will be in Calvary Lutheran Cemetery, Rapidan. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Geraldine was born March 10, 1929 to Ben and Marvel (Jessup) Daby in Mankato. She graduated from Mankato High School in 1948. She was in the band and was a cheerleader. Gere was united in marriage to Dale Eugene Larvick of Rapidan on September 9, 1950 in Algona, IA. They were married for 64 ½ years until his death. They farmed in Pemberton and moved to Mankato in 1994. Gere was very active in her church. She loved to sing in the choir and sang for weddings, holidays, and when asked, for funerals. She taught Sunday school, bible school, and was Sunday school superintendent for several years. She was the first woman to serve as Deacon on the church council. Gere was a member of the Ladies Aid, Dorcas Society, and church circle. She loved baking, cooking, and gardening. She loved decorating outside and inside for Christmas, her favorite time of year. Gere enjoyed her family and friends and was always available to lend a helping hand. She loved entertaining company and visiting over a cup of tea. Gere will be greatly missed.

Gere is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Collin) Bluhm of Mankato; son, Steve (Darcy) Larvick of Lake Crystal; four grandchildren, Allison Bluhm and her husband, Ryan Gohlinghorst of North Mankato, Tara Larvick of St. Paul, Kelly (Mark) Moser of Somerset, WI, and Cody (Marisarah) Larvick of Lakeville; great-grandchildren, Vincent, Vayda, and Wyatt Larvick of Lakeville; sister, Myrna (Jim) Winkelman of St. Clair; brother, Mark (Dianne) Daby of Mankato; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

Gere was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale on March 14, 2017; two sisters, Sharon (Roland) Feldbrugge, Vonne (Donald) Knutson; nephew, Todd Daby; three great-nephews, Glenn and Greg Smith and Ryan Winkelman.
