Gladys Marie Mullin

Gladys Mullin (Olson), 86, was called to heaven, peacefully, on May 20, 2024.  

Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday June 7, 2024 at Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Northview-North Mankato Mortuary assisted with arrangements. 

Gladys was born February 16, 1938, to Carl and Stella Olson of Mankato.   Gladys graduated from Mankato West High School in 1956.  She was Miss Mankato of 1957-1958 while attending Mankato State College, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and French. After graduation, Gladys went to work as a stewardess for Eastern Airlines.

 Gladys married Richard Mullin of Mankato whom she later divorced.   She taught English and Spanish at the Mapleton Highschool until she and her family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina for three years.  In 1966 the family moved to Pennsylvania where they lived in Hummelstown, Mechanicsburg, Gettysburg, and Dillsburg until returning to Minnesota in 1977.

 Gladys worked for Carlson Craft in North Mankato for ten years and then the Mankato Clinic until her retirement in 1992 due to health issues.  She was confirmed member of Grace Lutheran Church where she had been confirmed in 1953.   

 Gladys became a glider pilot while in North Carolina and was a huge fan Sprint Cars and of NASCAR auto racing.  She also enjoyed numerous crafts, music, gardening and reading mystery books.  She especially enjoyed moments with her grandchildren.

 Gladys was survived by her son Michael; sister, Janet Pope; grandchildren, Sydney and Casey Mullin and five nieces and one nephew.

 Gladys was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Stella Olson; borther Robert Olson; sister Marilyn and sister in law, Eloise.
