Rev. Gloria Jean Ayers was born March 15, 1936 in Valdosta, GA to Annie Mae Fields and Eddie Fields. She moved to Chicago in 1951. Gloria married Mylus Ayers in 1963, and from this union, she brought Jacqueline, Joyce, Rosalyn, Wayne, Deloris, Chris, and Paul.
She became a minister in 1962 and opened the Spiritual Temple of Divine Mind in 1969. She opened her home to many, many people. She enjoyed traveling, bowling, and being with her many friends and family.
She made her transition on July 22, 2023 at 8:53 a.m., peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.
Left in her love include her children, Jacqueline Yarbough (George), M. Joyce Fields (Maurice), Wayne Ayers, Deloris Ayers, Paul Ayers, and Curtis Ayers; grandchildren, Joshua and Bernadette Stewart, Andrew Fields, Daniel Newell, Vinnie Ayers; raised as her own, Fenysha Fields, Lydia Fields, Courtney, Dwayne, Wayne Ayers, Jr., Timothy Ayers, Ranisha Ayers, Shawntay Benton, and Valerie Hines.
Preceded in death by her husband, Mylus Ayers; mother, Annie Mae Fields; children, Rosalyn Ayers, and Chris Ayers; great-grandson, David Fields; adopted son, Thomas Jones; daughter-in-law, Sherry Ayers; and longtime family friend, Rhonda Weatherspoon.
Her grandchildren totaled 55, her great-grandchildren totaled 35, and a host of others.
Special tribute to the entire Bell family (first cousins), special friends Claudia Cooper, Ann Clark, neighbor Lisa, Ronnie Williams, and the Speedy family, along with all the lives Gloria has touched over the years.
Memorial service celebrating Gloria’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Mankato Mortuary, 1001 N. Riverfront Drive, Mankato, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Chicago, IL at a later date.
