Harlan James Compton, age 82 of North Mankato died, Thursday May 18, 2023, at Oak Terrace Living in North Mankato.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday May 23, 2023, at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mankato. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Burial with Military Honors will be at Minneopa Cemetery.
Harlan James was born April 27, 1941, in Mankato to Elmer and June (Kilmer) Compton. He graduated from Mankato High School. Harlan was united in marriage to Nancy Denton on November 4, 1961. Harlan served his country in the United States Air Force from 1960 until discharged as Senior Master Sergeant in 1981. He then worked as an engineer for OCE before retiring. Harlan was a member of Christ the King Lutheran and the Blue Earth County Historical Society. He enjoyed biking, gardening, spending time with his grandchildren, traveling, fishing, square dancing, camping and history, especially Civil War.
Harlan is survived by two daughters, Deborah (Jamie Derry) Tennant of Mankato, Teresa (Scott) Vaubel of St. James; seven grandchildren, Danyelle, Amanda, Kimberly, Andrew, Alex, Dylan, and Cole; great granddaughter, Alana; seven siblings, William Compton, Gordan (Theresa) Compton, Sharon (Gary) Hewitt, Beverly Marquardt, Marcia Pugh, Nadine (Mike) Gatewood, Wayne (Angela) Compton; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, James; sister-in-law, Jan; brothers-in-laws, Jerry, and Howard.
Memorials to Alzheimer's Association, Oak Terrace Activities or Christ the King Meal Program.
