Harry Fast

Mankato

Harry Fast, age 95, of Mankato, passed away Monday, May 6, 2024 at Generations Memory Care in Mankato.

 

A memorial service will be held at 3pm, Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Mankato with visitation one hour prior. A graveside service will be held at a later date at Windom Memorial Gardens. Livestreaming will be available at www.mankatomortuary.com.

 

Harry was born March 28, 1929 in Lustre, Montana to Abraham and Agatha (Neufeld) Fast. He attended schools in Butterfield and Delft, MN. In 1951, he entered the U.S. Army and received basic training at Fort Hood, TX. He was stationed with the 8th Infantry Division in Germany. Harry was honorably discharged with the rank of Sgt. in March, 1953.

 

On June 21, 1955, he married Delores Soleta in Windom, MN, where he worked at Sharkey & Mann Implement Co., the Windom Police Department, Windom Motor Supply and H&W Motor Parts. In 1968, the family moved to Mankato, where he and his wife owned and operated Fast Auto Parts until 1989, when they sold the business to Carquest.

 

In his spare time, Harry enjoyed gardening, going for long walks, bowling, watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings and spending time with his family.

 

Left to remember Harry are his children, Sherri (David) Farrell and Randy (Terri) Fast; grandchildren, Brandon (Samantha) Elsner, Courtney (Jonah) Elsner, Gabby (Nick) Farrell, Hayley (Scott) Hornberg, and Trent (Allison) Fast; great-grandchildren, Cecilia and August Hornberg; sister, Lila Neufeld; brother, Arlie (Elizabeth) Fast; and sister-in-law, Bernetta Maras. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores; seven brothers; and five sisters.

 

Harry’s family would like to thank Mankato Lodge, Generations Memory Care, and St. Croix Hospice for their excellent care and compassion shown to our dad.

Memorials are preferred to Resurrection Lutheran Church, 1735 E Main Street, Mankato MN 56001.
