Harvey “Skip” Ronald Edwards, Jr., age 85, of Mankato, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Pathstone Landing.
Private graveside service will be held at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Mankato. Public memorial service will be held at 11am, Monday, May 23, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church or School, 421 N. 2nd Street, Mankato, MN 56001.
Skip was born April 11, 1937 in Hallock Township to Harvey and June (LaLonde) Edwards, Sr. Skip was baptized He graduated from New Ulm High School in 1955. He was united in marriage to Vernelda “Nellie” Lendt at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sleepy Eye, and they were blessed with four children.
Skip volunteered with the New Ulm Fire Department before getting a full-time position with Station 1 and Station 2 with the Mankato Fire Department, where he retired after 20 years of service. He also started and owned the Viking Driving School and Viking Fire and Safety. After he sold the companies, he worked as a custodian with Mankato School District #77.
Skip also managed local rendezvous. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family. He was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato.
Skip is survived by his wife, Nellie Edwards of Mankato; children, Robin Edwards of Mankato, Ron Edwards of Pine River, Dawn (Dan) Wiebe of Nebraska, and Tammy (Jon) Dummer of Cleveland, MN; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Darrell Edwards; and sister-in-law, Shirley Edwards.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, baby girl Edwards; and brother, Donny Edwards.
