Helen E. Schauer

Helen E. Schauer, age 83, of Mankato, died Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Pathstone Living in Mankato.

Memorial Service 1:30 p.m., June 7, 2025 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 1735 E. Main Street, Mankato, MN 56001.

Memorial gifts should be directed to the Resurrection Lutheran Church memorial fund.

Helen Emily was born August 26, 1941, to Hilton E. and Nina B. (Smith) Miller in St. Peter. She graduated from St. Peter High School in 1959, and then St. Marys School of Nursing, Rochester, MN, in 1962.

Helen was united in marriage to David L. Schauer on November 3, 1962, at Union Presbyterian Church, St. Peter, MN. 

Helen worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Johns Hospital, St. Paul, MN from 1962-64, Municipal Hospital and Christian Nursing Home, Willmar, MN from 1965-75, Scenic Manor Care Facility, Iowa Falls, IA, 1975-92, and Home Nursing Services, Mankato, MN, 1993-98.

Helen was a former member of DAR – Anthony Wayne Chapter, Mankato, MN and Questers Minnehaha Chapter 111, St. Peter, MN.

Helen and David began in 2003, spending winters in Gold Canyon, AZ RV/Gold Resort, they purchased a home in Las Palmas Grand, Mesa, AZ in July 2014 and in 2019 they moved to Colorado Springs, CO, and in 2021 they moved to Mankato.

Helen is survived by her husband, David; three sons, Mark (Peggy) Schauer of Myrtle Beach, SC, Scott (Heather) Schauer of Oklahoma City, OK, and Brad (Teresa) Schauer of Colorado Springs, CO; six grandchildren, Morgan, Emily, Baylee, Eleanor, Jaxon, and Nora; sister, Janet (Pat) Zuccaro of Naples, FL, nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents.
