Irene Fogal

Irene Helene Ester Fogal, age 94, of Mankato, died on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at First Lutheran Church in Waldorf with visitation for one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the First Lutheran Church Cemetery in Waldorf.

Irene Helene Ester, the daughter of Herman and Rosine (Burmeister) Schwarz, was born on February 13, 1927 in Danville Township, Blue Earth County, MN. Irene graduated from Minnesota Lake High School. On May 12, 1948, she married William “Billy” Fogal at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Danville. Irene enjoying collecting Christmas ornaments and Shirley Temple items, feeding birds, visiting the North Shore of Lake Superior, flower gardening, and painting her favorite wild birds.

She is survived by sisters in law, Margaret Schwarz of Waseca, Rosa Fogal of Owatonna, and Marie Kerbo of Lake Havesu, AZ; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Billy Fogal; and siblings, Bertha Schwarz, Gilbert Schwarz, Doris (Donald) Tolzman, Dorothy (Wayne) Logan, Elsie Schwarz, Harry (Louisia) Schwarz, Adolph Schwarz, Rosie Schwarz, and Eldor (Rosemary) Schwarz.
