James "Jim" L. DeWitte

James “Jim” L. DeWitte, age 80, of Mankato, died on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Laurel’s Peak in Mankato.

Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Northview.  Burial will be in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.

James was born on January 14, 1941 in Mankato to Peter and Marie (Cattrysse) DeWitte.  Jim was drafted into the United States Army and served from November 1963-November 1965.  On September 5, 1969, Jim was united in marriage to Carol Pehrson in Mankato.  He worked as a custodian for the City of Mankato for 39 years.  Jim enjoyed working on projects in his garage while listening to old country western and polka music.  He liked his pigeons, driving his motorcycle, and western movies. 

Jim is survived by his wife, Carol; three sons, Brian (Tammy), Jason (Gerri), and Jesse (Laura); grandchildren, Travis, Tiffani, Danyella, Colten, Tagen, and Alex; and sister-in-law, LeeAnn DeWitte.  He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Irene and Mary Lou; and two brothers, Bob and Leon.
