James William More

James William More, 86, of Mankato, passed away July 18, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00a.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church with military honors. Visitation will be from 5-7p.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Mankato Mortuary, 1001 N Riverfront Dr., in Mankato and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mapleton at a later date.

Jim was born June 27, 1933 in Mapleton to John and Clara (Landsteiner) More. He attended school in Mapleton and Ellendale. In 1951, he entered the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1955. He married M. Elizabeth West in 1954 and was later divorced.

Jim had worked at a Texas Ready-Mix plant and Josten’s prior to his employment at Continental Can in 1961. He retired in 1995. Since retirement, Jim owned and operated his own business, “More’s Lawn Mowing and Snowplow Service.” Jim enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and motorcycling.

Jim is survived by his children, Deborah Thomas, Randy More, Brian (Teresa) More, and Lynette (Mike) Slater; sister, Patricia (Richard) Setter; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and dearest friend of many years, Donna Davis.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; son, John; 3 grandchildren, Eric, Melissa, and Tabitha; and sisters, Audrey and Carol.
