James M Schumacher

James “Jim” Schumacher, 63, of Mankato, MN passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer at Oaklawn surrounded by family.

Private family services are entrusted to Northview- North Mankato Mortuary. Memorials are preferred to Andreas Cancer Center or Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center.

Jim was born January 16, 1962 in Mankato, MN to Robert and Loretta Schumacher (Weingartz). He grew up in Mankato and graduated in 1980 from Mankato East High School. Later that year, he enlisted in the United States Army until he was honorably discharged. Jim worked in many different fields and was known for his excellent work ethic. He was well respected and valued for his hard work amongst his peers.

Jim enjoyed spending time with those closest to him, especially, his family. He enjoyed the companionship of his pets, as well. Jim was also, an avid Minnesota Twins fan and a lover of good music. He took note of player stats and details that he later enjoyed discussing with others.

Jim is survived by his siblings: Kay (Dave) Rock, Mike Schumacher, Jake (Carol) Schumacher, Joe (Kris) Schumacher, Gus (Lisa) Schumacher, Tina (Bob) Gregor, Bill (Nena) Schumacher, and the Sigafus families; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a host of other family members.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Schumacher and Loretta Schumacher Sigafus; step-father, Allen Sigafus; sister and brother-in-law, Laurie and Robert Jacobs.

The family would like to thank the Andreas Cancer Center of Mankato, Mayo Health Systems, and Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center for their exceptional care.
