Jan Woitas

Jan Woitas, age 79, of Mankato, died on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Mankato. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jan, the daughter of Leonard and Gladys (Harmeyer) Ballman, was born on October 10, 1944 in St. Peter. She graduated from Le Center High School in 1962. On September 10, 1966 Jan was united in marriage to Laurence H. Woitas at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Le Center. Jan was previously employed at National Poly and the Chamber of Commerce, both of Mankato, but she spent most of her life as a homemaker.  She loved spending time with her daughters, grandchildren, friends, and family. She also enjoyed bowling, going to the casino, playing cards, going to her grandchildren’s activities, and watching Minnesota sports. Later in life, she had poor vision but her memory was still sharp as a tack.

She is survived by her husband, Laurence H. “Larry” Woitas; daughters, Amy (Dave) Mueller and Nikki (Andy) Smith; and grandchildren, Abbey, Joseph and Cassie Mueller and Braeden and Tyler Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Magdalene Ballman; sister, Judy Ballman; and parents in law, Watzef and Regina Woitas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mt. Olive Lutheran School, Mankato.
