Janet Elizabeth Rudie, age 83, of Mankato, died on Sunday, April 4, 2021 at The Pillars of Mankato.
Visitation will be held from 5-7pm, Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary with a rosary starting at 4:30pm. Funeral Mass will be 11am, Monday, April 12, 2021 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery. Janet was born on November 20, 1937 to Winslow and Elizabeth (Schwebach) Fritzen in Minneapolis. Janet graduated from Minneapolis West High School in 1955. Immediately after graduation, she began working at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company from 1955-1961. She married Paul Rudie on September 30, 1961. Janet was co-owner of Rudie’s Lock and Key from 1969 to 1979. She worked for Blue Earth County, Nicollet County, and the State of Minnesota.
After retiring, she was a member of Ramblin’ Roses – Red Hat Society and Helping Hands at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Janet was also a member of Miami County Quilt Guild and a lifelong member of the Minnesota Locksmith Guild. She also enjoyed quilting, reading, jigsaw puzzles, and crossword puzzles. Janet enjoyed traveling and had visited all 50 states.
Janet is survived by her children, Sharon (James) Juliar of St. Clair, Teresa (Douglas) Pfau of Overland Park, KS, Thomas (Mary) Rudie of Mankato, Kenneth (Kelly) Rudie of Springfield, NE, and Dennis (Emily) Rudie of Lake Crystal; 13 grandchildren, Nina (Todd) Stupeck, Erin (Kyle) Meyer, Theodore (Emily) Pfau, Neil (Fanita) Pfau, Peter (Janna) Pfau, Michael Pfau, Brian Pfau, Jennifer Rudie, Kristina (Robert) Seidlitz, Joseph (Alyssa) Rudie, Mitchell Rudie, Matthew Rudie, and Benjamin Rudie; 9 great-grandchildren; 4 siblings, Gerald (June) Fritzen, Charles (Sandra) Fritzen, Monica Fritzen, and Doris Fritzen; sister-in-law, Margery Rudie; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Rudie; sisters-in-law, Connie Fritzen and Eileen (Larry) Swadner; brother-in-law, James Rudie; and nephew, Michael Fritzen.
