Janet Tonneson, age 83, of North Mankato passed away at sunset on Friday, May 1, 2020. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. Northview-North Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Janet was born on April 10, 1937 to Ed and Vera Swartout in Mankato. She attended and graduated from Mankato High. On June 9, 1957 she married her husband, Tom Tonneson at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mankato. Janet worked at Swartout Construction, as well as Lutheran Social Services. Some of her hobbies included: square dancing, attending reunions with high school friends, involvement in her community, taking care of the flowers on her deck, planning gatherings, spending time with family and her special bridge groups. She was extremely proud of her grandchildren, and loved to spoil them. Janet was involved in church leadership, and was a woman of faith.
Janet is survived by her husband, Tom Tonneson; children, Joan (Dan) Tesdahl, Robert (Julie) Tonneson, Kathy Tonneson, Susan Tonneson, and Amy (Eric) Plath; grandchildren, Andy (Erica) Mason, Brittany Mason, Moriah Tonneson, Andre Tonneson, Jarod (Karli) Tonneson, Tawna Tonneson, Veda Plath, Ravi Plath and Sitara Plath; great-grandchildren, James Tyler Tonneson, Waylon Tonneson, Brayden Tonneson, and great-grandson on the way, Daniel Mason; siblings, Jeri (Ron) Lorenzen, and Jim (Cathy) Swartout as well as many nieces and nephews, which includes a very special niece, Deb Pipes.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Marshall Tonneson; siblings, Carol (Gary) Morphew, and Pat Petersen.
