Janice "Jan" Mae Klages

Janice Mae Klages passed away peacefully at home in the care of her loving children on January 6, 2021. Private services will be held at a later date. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jan was born in Mankato, MN on December 6, 1937 to Jean Wallace and Olive Mae (McCargar) Owen. She graduated from Mankato High School with the class of 1955. She was united in marriage to Wallace B. Klages on January 17, 1957 in Mankato, MN. Jan worked at various places in Mankato throughout her life and retired from the Mankato Clinic in 1992. In retirement she volunteered her time at the Raphael Free Clinic in Kerrville, TX. Jan strived to continue to grow and learn throughout her life. She was a very giving and compassionate person in donating her time and talents and her family and friends benefited from this. She believed that every person should be treated with kindness and compassion. She had beautiful flower gardens and in the last few years got back into bread baking sharing the loaves with many people. 

Jan is survived by her children, Chris Goetz of Faribault, MN, Kathi (Tim) Orfield of Southlake, TX and Matt (Julie) Klages of Fairmont, MN; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Greg) Adamson, Alex (Nikki) Goetz, Rachael Orfield, Bridget (Dallas) Johnston, Jenna (Damon) Simser and Kylie Klages; great-grandchildren, Emma and Brayden Goetz and Teagan Adamson. The family would also like to acknowledge Jason Schumann who our mother thought of as a bonus grandson and who we have come to love as family. We thank Jason for everything he did for our Mom. Jan was preceded in death by her husband, and parents.
