Jean Short, 78, beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother and Great-grandmother, passed away at her home in Champlin, MN on January 22, 2024.

Jean was born on July 20, 1945 in Marshall, MN, to Julius and Margaret DePyper. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother Jim DePyper; brother-in-law Ray Rauchman; and sister-in-law Millie DePyper. She is survived by five siblings: Robert DePyper, Phyllis McCargar, Jerry DePyper, John DePyper (and Michael Beck), and Mary Krambeer (and Robert Krambeer); three children, daughter Terri McCargar (and spouse Ewan Vizard), daughter Lisa Roberts (and spouse Michelle Roberts), and son Chris McCargar (and former spouse Mari McCargar); granddaughter Monica Turner (and spouse Tyler Turner); grandson Noah McCargar; great-granddaughter Olive Turner and great-grandson Anakin Turner; ten nieces and nephews: Ken DePyper, Lynn McCargar, Sherry Morgan (and daughter Megan Braun), Jeff DePyper, Stephen DePyper, Jeremy DePyper, Bekah Ragland, Michael Krambeer, Matt Krambeer and Joey Krambeer.

Jean graduated from Loyola High School in 1963 and from Mankato State University in 1967. After a break to raise her children, she returned to teaching, and was a much-loved Spanish teacher (Senora Short or Senora Baja!) at Anoka High School from 1992 until her retirement in 2011. She was well known for her passions: the Minnesota Vikings, coupon clipping, travel, cats and her grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11.00am on Monday, January 29, 2024 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, with visitation one hour prior. A private burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato.
