Jerald “Jerry” Wersal, age 79, of Mapleton, died on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato.
Memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato. Interment and military honors will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato.
Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at the Mankato Mortuary, 1001 N. Riverfront Drive, Mankato and will continue at the church for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Jerald Bernard, the son of Bernard and Dorothy (Waslif) Wersal, on November 16, 1941 in Mankato. Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corp and was honorably discharged. On July 16, 1966, he married Sandra Ann Gjerde. He served as a Deputy Sheriff for Blue Earth County for 28 years. Jerry loved hunting, fishing, competitive shooting on the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Dept. team, and golfing. Jerry and Sandy enjoyed spending winters in Arizona and camping, especially in the Black Hills. He was a member of Key Cities Conservation Club.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Wersal of Mapleton; children, Deana (Joe) Muller of Aberdeen, SD and Scott Wersal of Belle Plaine; grandchildren, Maisie (Wyatt) Fulton, Christian Muller (Mattie Scheidecker), Alexandra Muller, JJ Muller, Nayelee Muller, and Onyx Muller; one great grandchild on the way; and brother, Richard Wersal of Mankato.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister in law, Kris Wersal.
Memorial gifts may be directed to the Key Cities Conservation Club.
