Jerome Koberg

Jerome William Koberg, 81, of North Mankato, died November 17, 2021 at Birchwood Cottages in North Mankato after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 22, 2021 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Mankato, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Out of respect for our family, masks are encouraged.  Livestreaming will be available at www.mankatomortuary.com. Northview-North Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family.

Jerry was born March 17, 1940 to Raymond and Irene (Bergemann) Koberg in Mankato. He graduated from the Southern School of Agriculture in Waseca in 1958. During his working years he was a part owner of Techni-Fab, welder at Jones Sheet Metal, and a real estate agent in the Mankato area for several years.

In 1988, Jerry married Jeanette (Bromeling) Schendel. They were blessed with 33 years of marriage! Together they served as foster parents for adults for several years. In his free time, Jerry enjoyed his puppies, old time music and dancing, Johnny Cash, classic cars, gardening, and spending time with family.  He was a jolly fellow and could always put a smile on your face.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Jeanette; children, LaJoy Fischer, Brenda Zimmermann, Jim (Jody) Koberg, Shawn (Kathy Osborne) Drill, Kim (Lee) Thompson, Kayla (Wade Deming) Koble, Donita (Paul) Platz, and Ray (Kristy) Koberg; children acquired through marriage, Robin (Bernadette) Schendel, Blake Schendel, Dane (Maria Bales) Schendel, Adam (Becky) Schendel, and Leah (Craig) Ogden; 42 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sister, Jeanette (Lee) Heinrichs; brother-in-law, Myles (Marcene) Bromeling; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law; sister, Vera; two brothers in infancy; and two grandchildren.

The family of Jerry would like to thank Birchwood Cottages and St. Croix Hospice for their loving care.
