Jerry Etherington, age 83, of Mapleton, died peacefully at his home on April 22, 2025.
Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Mapleton. Visitation will be Sunday, April 27 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at St. Teresa Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will be at Calvary Cemetery, Mapleton. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Croix Hospice.
Jerry was born on August 3, 1941 in Mankato to Roy and Alma (Rollings) Etherington. He graduated from Mapleton High School. Jerry served in the United States Army. On May 20, 1967, Jerry was united in marriage to Judy Bach at St. Teresa Catholic Church. Jerry worked for Cargill for over 30 years and after retirement was the self-proclaimed #1 carry out guy at Dietz Grocery. Jerry enjoyed gardening and was proud of having “Yard of the Month.” He loved playing cards on Wednesday nights at the VFW, spending time at the Maple Mart and enjoying a scratch off. He could be seen cruising around Mapleton on his golf cart with Coco. Jerry was currently the Commander of the Mapleton V.F.W. Post 5338 and served on the Mapleton City Council.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Ann (Bill) Reinbold, Teresa (Dan) Sohre, Kevin Etherington, and Craig Etherington; grandchildren, Vanessa (Brandon) Birr, Damion Etherington, Nick Etherington, Kelsey (Dylan) Groskreutz, and Ella, Kyle, and Macy Sohre; great-grandchildren, Braelyn and Aria Birr; brother, Robert (LaVon) Etherington; sisters-in-law, Roberta Etherington and Helen (Marlin) Krienke; and brother-in-law, Paul (Denise) Bach. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Keith; siblings, Edgar, Ralph, Berneatha, Bonnie Beth, and Vivian; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Bach.
