Jerry O. Griggs

Jerry Otto Griggs, age 74, of rural Mapleton, died, Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at MCHS – Mankato.

Private graveside service will be held at Union Cemetery, Mapleton. Olson-Tichenor Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.

Jerry was born July 9, 1945 to Guy Walker and Clara Catherine (Sommer) Griggs in Mankato. He graduated from Mapleton High School and Austin Vo-Tech for Ag Mechanics. He married Carol Fleisher on August 23, 1969. Jerry had been employed by B & R Auto and Truck Salvage.

Jerry enjoyed spending time with and exploring the interests of his children and grandchildren. He was a supporter of the 4-H Program, FFA, and other youth organizations.

Jerry is survived by his two children, Cindy Merritt and Jerome Griggs; two grandchildren, Jerran and Brian Merritt; two sisters, Rose White of Mapleton and Betty Boroski of Rochester; two sisters-in-law, Cindy Brown and Marcie (Brian) Martig; brother-in-law, Stephen (Darlene) Fleisher; and many nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Carol in 2010.
