A lifelong resident of Mankato, he graduated from Loyola High School in 1964, Northwestern University in 1993 and Minnesota State–Mankato in 2005. Jerry married his childhood sweetheart Mary (Panter) in December 1964, raised two children and enjoyed a blessed and happy life together as husband and wife for 55 years. Jerry was a man of many talents and an unmatched work ethic. He loved to work with his hands and there was nothing he couldn’t fix. Along with a childhood friend, he started and grew Cattrysse & Huettl Custom Cabinets into a thriving business. Jerry’s other passion was serving on the Mankato Police Department as a Police Reserve. Jerry jumped at the opportunity to join the Police force full time in 1981. He rose rapidly through the ranks, being promoted to Commander, Support Services Commander, Administrator of Joint Services, Deputy Director of Public Safety and eventually named Director of Public Safety in 2003, a position he held until his retirement in 2010. Jerry was an avid reader who loved to travel with Mary in their motorhome, hunt and fish with friends and spend time with his grandkids.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Mary; children, Carol (Bill) Lambert and Mike Huettl; grandchildren, Ryan Lambert and Anna Lambert; sisters, Jane (Richard) Easton and Margaret (Dick) Bockman; rescue cat, Kramer; and many dear friends and relatives.
