Joan Mae Schutt

Joan Mae (Nobles) Schutt entered the joy of heaven on Dec.14th, 2024. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend and will be deeply missed. Joan was born to Walter and Una (Hicks) Nobles on Dec. 10th, 1931. She lived for 82 years on the farm that was homesteaded by her grandparents. Joan attended Ceresco Country School through 8th grade and graduated from Garden City High School. After graduation, she attended Mankato Business College and then worked for ADM. On June 10th,1951 Joan was united in marriage to Myron Schutt at Grace United Methodist Church in Vernon Center, Mn. Joan was active in church groups including UMW, ladies circle groups, and helping with vacation bible school. She was also involved with the Ceresco extension club, mother's club, and most importantly, being a good neighbor.

Myron and Joan lived on and operated the farm that Joan grew up on. Her grandson now runs the farm as a 5th generation farmer. Family was very important to her and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would quickly offer to help outside when needed, but her real joy was found in the kitchen. You could be sure that if you stopped in to visit, you would not leave until you had enjoyed some of her fresh baked treats.

For many years, Joan kept daily journals of life on the farm, documenting both good times and times of struggle. She was a breast cancer survivor and thanked God often for getting her through that. She had a very strong faith. Myron passed away in 2015 after 64 years of marriage, and Joan relocated to Crystal Seasons in Lake Crystal for 8 years. In 2023 she moved to Pathstone Memory Care in Mankato.

Joan is survived by her daughter Cathy (Don) Dronen of Fargo, N.D. , son Doug (Sue) Schutt of Amboy, Mn., sister Neva(Jim) Pfeffer of Mankato, 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on April 5th,2025. Service is at 11:00 with visitation one hour prior at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Lake Crystal. We would like to thank St. Croix Hospice for their compassionate care. They are absolute angels!
