Joe Eldon Marrs

Joe Eldon Marrs, age 76, of Mankato passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at Laurels Peak.

Memorial service will be at 12, noon, on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Mayo Clinic Hospice.

Joe was born on September 7, 1948, to Alvin and Goldie (Parcher) Marrs in Charles City, Iowa. He grew up on his family farm near Rockford, Iowa. Joe graduated from Rudd, Rockford, Marble Rock High School in 1966. He met and married Marlys Mills in 1974 in Charles City, Iowa, and together they had two children, Roy and Dolores. The family moved to the Mankato area in 1982. Joe held various jobs, from sales to management, to dispatch, to driving bus.

Joe enjoyed fishing, gardening, spending time with his little dogs, and most of all being with his family. 

Joe is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marlys; children, Roy (Amanda), and Dolores (Chad) Swanson; grandchildren, Amber Marrs, Roland Marrs, Seth Swanson, and Luke Swanson; siblings, Jon (Joan) Marrs and Jim Marrs, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Goldie Marrs; sister, Dolores Dvorak, and sister-in-law, Marilyn Marrs.
