John Peter Busch, age 84, lifelong resident of Mankato, died peacefully Friday, November 4, 2022 while surrounded by family at Birchwood Cottages in North Mankato.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, November 12, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato with visitation two hours prior. Military honors will be provided by the Mankato Area Veterans Memorial Rifle Squad. Burial following at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato with a luncheon after at St. John the Baptist. John was born October 14, 1938 in Mankato to Raymond F. and Jeanette A. (Bender) Busch. He graduated from Loyola High School in 1956. After graduation, he served 2 years in the U.S. Navy on the USS Cavalier APA-37. He married Lorraine Hoehn on December 27, 1968 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato and they were blessed with three children.
John began working for his family business, AJ Busch Company, when he was 19 years old. He was driven, committed, and valued customer service throughout his working career. After retiring in 2000, John volunteered serving meals at the Salvation Army. He had a passion for serving others through food and conversation. John also enjoyed watching sports, socializing with friends, and spending time with his family.
John is survived by his wife, Lorraine Busch of Mankato; 3 children, Bridgett McCarthy of North Mankato, Andy (Kelly) Busch of Waconia, and Brent (Jessica) Busch of North Mankato; 7 grandchildren, Mariah McCarthy, Kyra McCarthy; Ryan Busch, Sam Busch; Jacqueline Busch, Anna Busch, and Raymond Busch; and sister-in-law, Joan (Pat) Busch-Brunner of Mankato.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Fred Busch, Barb (George) Moses, and Mary Jean Cole.
