John “Jack” Lawrence Beiswanger, age 84, of North Mankato passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, with visitation one hour prior. Funeral livestream will be available on Jack’s obituary at www.mankatomortuary.com.
Jack was born in Sioux City, Iowa on October 16, 1938 and was very quickly adopted by loving parents Elizabeth and Logan Beiswanger of Letcher, South Dakota. Jack spent his fun and formative years in Letcher playing many sports, graduated high school, and later attended Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota. During many of the social activities and dances he attended in Mitchell, he met “the one” for him Elizabeth (Betty) Henrich, and was married in Mitchell on June 21, 1958. Jack and Betty were blessed with seven children.
Jack was involved in many different jobs and found sales and marketing suited him best. He spent the early years selling and developing Schiff/Galenkamp shoe stores and rose through the ranks and moved many times, finally settling in Mankato and raising the family for the last 55 years. Jack had other sales adventures, including automotive and owned and managed the hilltop Dairy Queen. Jack retired from work with the Minnesota Lottery after 20 years. He was always ready with a story and had a connection to someone or something to share.
Jack enjoyed sports and played softball, golf and bowled. He was a big fan of all Minnesota sports teams and closely followed the Twins, Vikings and the many sporting events, of his children and grandchildren. He always had the game on the TV or radio.
Jack will always be remembered as never being shy, loving to be with people especially family and being enormously proud of all his family.
Jack is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty; children, John (Diane), Dan (Mary), Carla (Tom) Bauer, Mary (Harold Jr.) Drummer, Dawn (Rick) Kottke, Rob (Sarah), and Scott; 27 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Joe Henrich, as well as nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; grandchildren, Sarah and Michael Beiswanger, Joseph Bauer, and Cierra Drummer.
