John D. Jacoby

John D. Jacoby, age 74, of Lake Washington, died on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at his home. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviors’ Lutheran Church in Cleveland. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service at church. 

John was born on July 21, 1944 in St. James, MN to Edward and Ann (Gunderson) Jacoby.  He graduated from St. James High School.  John served in the United States Army in military intelligence from 1962-1965 and visited 17 countries during his time in the service.  On October 8, 1965, John was united in marriage to Charlotte Poels.  Upon completion of his military service, John was hired by Mankato Citizens Telephone Company and remained with them for 42 years and in the last several served as a shop steward until his retirement.  John was a lifetime member of the VFW-Morrison Ario-Strand where he taught fire arm safety for 44 years and was also a member of the Cleveland American Legion. John and Charlotte were active in the American Foreign Exchange Student Program and hosted three daughters and one son. They remained active with visiting regularly with Christian and Cecile. 

John is survived by his wife, Charlotte of Lake Washington; son, Robert (Tami) Jacoby of Lakeville and their children, Tia Jacoby and fiancé, Eric Mueller of Eagan and Victoria Jacoby (Zac) of Los Angeles, CA, daughter, Cynthia (Aaron) Ellickson of New Brighton and their son, Aidan,  son, Mark (Mandy) Jacoby of Lake Washington and their sons, Tyler and Dylan, daughter, Cecile (Jerome) Duchesne and their daughter, Clotilde of France, and son Christian Daisenberger of Germany; brother, Don Jacoby of St. James; sister-in-law, Leona Jacoby of St. James; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James; sister, Janet (Therman) Wetteland; and sister-in-law, Carol Jacoby.
