On January 24th, 2021, Judith Ann McGregor (née Rautio), loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 75. In her final days, Judie spent time surrounded by her family. She was born on December 11th, 1945 in Cloquet, Minnesota to Rudolph and Eunice Rautio. She fondly remembered spending her childhood at her family’s cabin and with her grandmother.
She attended the University of Minnesota where she met her husband, Duncan McGregor. She earned her degree in social work from Minnesota State University, and she spent her career serving her community. She donated her time to Maple River Loaves & Fishes and Meals on Wheels.
Judie was above all a dedicated mother and grandmother. She loved reading, cooking, and solving crossword puzzles. She shared her love of cards and games with her children and grandchildren. Her sharp mind and quick wit will be lovingly remembered by her family.
Judie is survived by her husband of more than 50 years, Duncan McGregor; daughter, Leslie McGregor and her children, Jamie Earls, Ian Earls, and Erin Earls; son, Rory McGregor; sister, Margaret Wahlfors and her children, Jeff and Cindy; sister, Brooke Towey (James Rude) and her children, Mary and William; brother-in law, Dr. Byron McGregor (Karen) and their children, Duncan, Katie, and Douglas; sister-in-law, Mary James and her children, Kevin, Heather and Kara.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph and Eunice Rautio, and by her sister, Wendy Rautio.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 14, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at United Church of Mapleton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Mapleton. Olson-Tichenor Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Mapleton Area Foundation, Maple River Loaves & Fishes, or a charity of your choice in memory of Judie. The family of Judie McGregor would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at both Mayo Hospice and Visiting Angels for the care and compassion they expressed during Judie’s finals days.
