Judy A. Olson

Judy A. Olson, age 71, of Winnebago, died on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 3, 2021, at the United Church of Mapleton. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Olson-Tichenor Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. The service will be livestreamed and available on Judy’s obituary page at www.mankatomortuary.com.

Judy Ann, the daughter of Lenard and Edna (Sorenson) Petzoldt, was born on August 24, 1950, in Grand Island, NE. She graduated from Newell Providence High School in 1969 and continued onto courses at Professional Business Institute in Minneapolis. Judy married Ron Olson on July 19, 1975, in Newell, IA, at Nain Lutheran. The couple later moved to the Olson family farm where they raised their five children. Judy was a long-time employee of the radiology department at Immanuel St. Joseph’s Hospital/Mayo Clinic, retiring in 2011 after 30 years and countless friendships. In 2005, Judy and Ron moved to their home on Bass Lake where she loved being surrounded by the sounds of the birds, the water, and good neighbors. Judy was a gifted seamstress, cook and woodworker – there was no project too big or too small. With fifteen grandchildren, there were always jeans to patch, cookies to bake and things to build. Her only payment requirement was a hug goodbye.

She is survived by her husband, Ron Olson; children, Jill Robinson, Amber (Brett) Bartell, Sarah Olson (Ryan Black), Beth (Jason) Wieland, and Reid (Sheryl) Olson; grandchildren, Austin, Bailee, Riley (Grace), and Kennedy Weis, Jocelyn and Bode Bartell, Wylie, Lander, Ryder, and Cash McMichael, Olivia and Emery Wieland, and Ella, Avery and Ian Olson; brothers, Chuck (Marty) Petzoldt, Jim (Roni) Petzoldt, and Rick Petzoldt; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Cindy Petzoldt.
