Julie Ann Drill

Julie Drill, 60, of North Mankato, passed away September 17, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer.

Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m., Friday at Northview- North Mankato Mortuary and one hour before the service on Saturday at the church.

She was born to Melvin and Patricia Fedder, March 15, 1962, in Fairmont, MN.  Julie was raised in Mankato, MN where she attended Mankato West High School.  She began working as a seamstress shortly after school, which developed into a life-long career.

Julie was married to Doug Drill on September 2, 1989 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato, MN.  She and Doug lived their life in Lower North Mankato where they raised three sons. 

Julie’s career as a seamstress touched many members of the community, from dance costumes to wedding dresses, her craft played a role in many special moments.

When she wasn’t working in her sewing room, she could be found enjoying a glass of wine on her patio along with good company, her husband, and her dogs.  Julie was an avid traveler, ideally to tropical destinations.  She would take advantage of any opportunity for a vacation, whether it was with her husband or with her girlfriends.

She is survived by her husband, Doug; sons, Nathan (Chelsea), Logan and Noah; mother, Patricia Fedder; sisters, Shirley Shipman and Brenda Zuhlsdorf (Randy); brothers, Jim and Timothy Fedder; brother-in-law Brian Drill (Cindy); sister-in-law Denise Drill; her loyal dog, Murphy; extended family and loving friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Melvin Fedder; mother-in-law, Arline Drill; and the best dogs, Gaborik and Molly.

She will be missed very much but never forgotten.
