Julie Ann Schoettler, R.N., passed away on April 9, 2025, at the age of 69 after a short battle with an aggressive cancer. Born on February 20, 1956, to Cyril (John) and Dorothy Drummer of North Mankato, Minnesota.
Julie’s proudest achievements were undoubtedly her six children and ten grandchildren, who were the center of her world. Her grandchildren will always remember her home as a place where imaginations soared, laughter was abundant, bellies were full of candy, and air mattresses never survived cousin sleepovers with ninja parties and flipping challenges.
Known for her strong will and determination, Julie lived life on her own terms. She was a tireless advocate for her family, always pushing for what was best for her children and grandchildren. Her efforts were instrumental in the discovery of the Dicer1 gene mutation and PPB research, which contributed to significant advances in childhood cancer research and early screening studies for PPB, a legacy that will continue to impact many lives.
Julie was survived by her children and their families: Kate (Kipp) Woxland with Doran, Charlie, and Eleanor; Trisha (Jared) Anderson with Jackson and Reagan; David (Shannon) Schoettler with Calvin and Carter; Peter (Hillary) Schoettler with Toby, Madelyn, and Owen; and Jacob (Caitlyn) Schoettler with Miles. Her mom, Dorothy, and eight siblings: Janet (George) Fasnacht, Jennie (James) Adams, Peggy Mason, John (Lori) Drummer, Mary Drummer, Paul Drummer, Andrew Drummer, and Matthew Drummer. Many nieces and nephews and a ton of cousins.
Julie was preceded in death by her son, Adam (AJ), who surely ran into his mom’s arms the moment God opened the gates of Heaven, as well as her dad, Cyril (John), and nephew, Eric Adams.
Funeral Service will be held on April 30, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary with visitation from 11:00-1:00 p.m. Private family burial at Calvary Cemetery.
