June Elaine Peterson, age 88 of Mankato, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Grace Baptist Church in Mankato. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at Minneopa Cemetery in rural Mankato.
June Elaine Peterson was born on June 6, 1936, to Louis and Junetta (Jensen) Kelson in Custer Twp., Lyon Co., MN. She graduated salutatorian from Balaton high school, Balaton, Lyon Co., MN in 1953 and worked as a nurse’s aide at Tracy Hospital. She resided at Tracy, Lyon Co., MN 1953 – 1955. June graduated from the Licensed Practical Nursing program at Mankato Vocational Technical Institute in 1972. She worked as an LPN at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital from 1972-1992. June graduated from the Registered Nursing program at Normandale College in Minneapolis in 1992. She then worked as an RN at Immanuel St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato until her retirement.
June was united in marriage to Donald Gaylord Peterson on March 19, 1955, in Balaton, Lyon Co., MN. She enjoyed flowers, playing cards, and many winters in Harlingen, Texas. Her greatest joy was spending time with friends and family.
June is survived by her two children: Mark (Deb) Peterson, Eagan, MN and Darwin (Jeanne) Peterson, Madison Lake, MN; six grandchildren: Jennifer Draheim, Jessica Sloderbeck, Andrew Peterson, Matthew Peterson, Brent Peterson and Kyle Peterson; and ten great grandchildren: Shelby, Landon, Tyler, Dionna, Noah, Hayden, Clark, Daniel, James, and Hailey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister.
