Karen Lund Storvick

Karen Lund Storvick, age 67 of Mankato, MN, died peacefully on January 19, 2020 after a long battle with cancer. The daughter of Clarence Lund and Doris (Juul) Lund, Karen was born on October 8, 1952, in Mohall, North Dakota. She grew up on the family farm outside of Mohall. Karen attended Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, where she played the contrabass clarinet in the Concordia band, and met her husband, Rolf Storvick. Karen and Rolf were married on June 21, 1975 in Mohall, North Dakota. Karen worked as a high school Home Economics teacher prior to moving to Mankato in 1984. In her 35 years as a Mankato resident, she was known for her wonderful style and creativity, working as an event planner and public speaker on home decoration. Her favorite activities included creating a beautiful table top for a holiday or party around which friends and family could gather, spending summer days with her family at their cabin on Pelican Lake, spending quality time with her many friends, loudly cheering on her children at sporting events, and spoiling her five grandchildren. She proudly participated in and led activities for parents in support of her children’s athletic endeavors, including the Mankato West Booster Club, Gustavus Football Goal Line Club, and University of Minnesota Track & Field Boosters. She was also incredibly proud of her work on the annual Advent Brunch at Christ the King Lutheran Church.

Karen was preceded in death by her mother, Doris, and her father, Clarence.

She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Rolf; her sons, Kristofor (Gemma) and Hans (Amy); sister, Janet Ellingson (Scott); and beloved grandchildren, Theron (8), Annika (5), Sloane (2), Kaleb (2), and Ian (8 months). She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.
